Technology at TCA

TCA has a 1:1 device program for students K-12. Chromebooks are the primary device used by students. Each student is issued a device at the beginning of the school year, and student devices are refreshed approximately every three years.

TCA is a Google School through Google Apps for Education. Students are able to use this cloud-based technology resource platform and we have partnered with a national EdTechTeam for Google-specific training to enhance our students’ ability to access, create, collaborate, and share learning.

STEM

STEM Lab begins in Elementary and utilizes the 4 C’s: Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Creativity, and Communication. Students start with a question or problem that needs to be solved, take time to brainstorm, and imagine the possibilities! Students make a plan through diagrams or the drawing of their ideas and then spend time creating, experimenting, testing, and making needed improvements. Additionally, students communicate to obtain feedback from peers and staff. Projects include: Lego Robots, Robotic Arms, Water Filtration Systems, iPad projectors, Block Coding, and more!

Computer Coding began as a club and has now grown into multiple class opportunities, including Advanced Coding on the high school level. Our Robotics Club is available to Middle and Upper school students and has been a great success with students competing successfully locally and regionally.

Through Raspberry Pi, students learn to build applications on a small $35 computer.
