Tennessee Education Freedom Scholarship Program

The Tennessee Department of Education has announced key dates and instructions for both current participants and new applicants of the Education Freedom Scholarship (EFS) program. We want to ensure you are informed about the application and renewal timeline, and prepared to complete the required steps to receive or maintain scholarship funding for the 2026–27 school year. This year’s renewal application has been simplified and will involve fewer steps than the initial application.

February 6, 2026 at 4:00 PM CT
Application window closes for ALL 2026–2027 EFS applications through the State of Tennessee.

May 28, 2026
TCA’s goal is to have all student enrollments confirmed with the state by this date. FACTS accounts will also be updated to reflect EFS Scholarship tuition adjustments before June payments begin.

June 15, 2026
Deadline for all new EFS recipients to submit an application to Trinity Christian Academy for the 2026–2027 school year in order to complete the admissions process before the state deadline.

June 30, 2026
State deadline for schools to complete EFS enrollment confirmations.

July 1, 2026
One-time tuition payment plans will be drafted through FACTS.

EFS Scholarship Enrollment Updates for 2026–2027

We are excited for the blessing the Education Freedom Scholarship (EFS) program provides for our families, and we want to share a few important updates as we move forward.

TCA is currently in the process of confirming the enrollment of students who have selected Trinity Christian Academy (TCA) as their preferred school in the EFS portal. The state deadline for schools to complete enrollment confirmations is June 30, 2026.

Below is the TCA process and timeline for families who have applied for, been awarded, and selected TCA for the EFS Scholarship in their state portal account for the 2026–2027 school year:

After a family selects TCA, the student will appear in our school portal so we can verify enrollment with the state.

While the state deadline for enrollment confirmation is June 30, 2026, we plan to have all student enrollments confirmed with the state by May 28, 2026.

You will receive an email from the state once your enrollment has been finalized for the EFS Scholarship.

We kindly ask for your patience as our office processes EFS Scholarship enrollments. Tuition and fees for the 2026–2027 school year will first be added to your FACTS account and will not initially reflect the EFS Scholarship when the account is finalized. Updated tuition information, including EFS Scholarship adjustments, will be completed before May 28, 2026, so new tuition payments can begin in June 2026. One-Time tuition payment plans will be drafted on July 1, 2026. Detailed communication will also be sent to all families later this week outlining TCA guidelines for EFS Scholarship recipients and explaining how tuition payments will be affected by EFS disbursements.
